Main Characteristics: European Mink have a body length between 30 and 40 cms (12 - 16 inches), a tail length between 12 and 19 cms (4.75 - 7.5 inches) and they weigh between 500 and 800 g (18 - 29 oz). They are dark brown in colour and they have white lips and a white chin.
Diet: European Mink are opportunistic predators and they mainly feed on rats, rabbits, birds, fish, frogs and crayfish.
Breeding: After a gestation period of 35 - 70 days, 2 - 7 young are born in a den. They are weaned at 10 weeks old and are sexually mature at 10 months old.
Subspecies: Subspecies of the European Mink Include: Mustela lutreola biedermanni, Mustela lutreola binominata, Mustela lutreola cylipena, Mustela lutreola lutreola, Mustela lutreola novikovi, Mustela lutreola transsylvanica and Mustela lutreola turovi.
